On the Way to the Midnight Sun

Lost in Today is Thursday, June 23rd. If Petr hadn't told me I wouldn't know. I easily lose the track of dates and days of week when traveling. It liberates me from the usual routine and cleanses my soul.

We are leaving Neskauptstadur, the fjords and eastern Iceland for the north, but before that there is so much to see along the way. The weather is very bad, some locals compare it to November here but somehow it fits here and I don't mind.

Our first stop is at the Dettifoss waterfall. It is very cold and wet from the waterfall but I feel very happy here, the landscape is like from Tolkien's books, I am in a fantasy world, the cloudy and dark sky intensifies the feeling.

When I digested my morning experience we ended up at another mystic place with a completely different landscape - lake Mývatn and its surroundings:

  1. I like your thermal landscape pics. I'd love to show you personally around NZ's thermal areas... maybe one day.

  2. Oh, it would be the best thing to see NZ with you guiding us. Thank you for all your comments, Julie. Enjoy summer, there is no summer here :-)
