We went to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall which is unique because you can walk behind it and enjoy that wet romantic moment. Behind Seljalandsfoss there is an amazing gorge called Gljúfurárfoss canyon. You can walk into it and admire another waterfall now locked in between steep walls. And then, also thanks to geocaching (like all places today) we got up the waterfall and could see it falling down the edge of the mountain. It wasn't easy to find the way, we had to climb some cattle fences but we got to the spot in the end. I was really glad.
Later we moved further inland. The road deteriorated but it was still possible to drive on it with much care in our small car. We arrived at another gorge which is famous for its 'big' in Icelandic scale birch trees. It was again advebturous and fabulous.
The last adventure took us to the mountain Stora Dimon which we climbed off the teach in its steepest slope, I blindly followed my hubby ... And incredible happened and I managed to reach the top too. Just thanks to the surface covered in grass and not looking down much :-) the spectacular views of the mountains, icebergs, and the meandering river and the cache were definitely worth it. Every mountain here has an elf guardian I had asked them for permission and protection. Back down at the foot of the mountain we met a local couple having their van buried deep in the gravel on the road, we promised to rear our way back and ask for help at the nearest farm. Hope they helped them out.
Go you getting to the top. So worth the views. Again thanks for sharing! Love it
